Castro Headlines 1

Castro theater –
“Missing Pieces”-

Free writing –
Remember how it felt to be a kid or teenager watching that amazing film for the first time. The one that blew your mind and you walked away wanting to see it ten, one hundred, no a thousand more time.  Maybe it was a movie you loved but you never got to see it on the big screen. You know all the moments, scenes, lines.  You know how powerful the big screen can be and if you could only get the chance to see it, or see it again in all it’s glory, 10 feet tall.  The first time you watched the movie you paid attention to the main character.  That was all you had eyes for, the main story line.  Once you know the story you get to see the background.  All the things you missed the first time around.  The foreshadowing, the mistakes, the everything that makes it dear to your heart.

Headlines-
What you didn’t see the first time.
What your friends saw that you didn’t.
You can see it again.
Wouldn’t it be nice to never miss a moment.
Never a need to feel sad.  About missing a movie anyway.

What you missed was the emotion of the crowd.
What you missed was how it looks on the big screen.
What you missed was the feeling of the chairs.
What you missed was the sounds of the organ.
What you missed was the smell of popcorn.

Same classics you love, just add emotion.
Castro Theater.  Just add emotion.
You might miss it but together we’ll see it.
Where home meets heart.
Have an adventure without the stress of leaving home.

The story never changes.  Only the way you see it does.
See all the new within the old.
The challenge is to see what you haven’t seen.
Do you know what’s missing?
Don’t just see it.  Feel it.

Different date, same great movie.
This time you can neck and not miss a thing.
Kiss and don’t miss a thing.
Kiss and be able to tell what you missed.
You missed it once.  Don’t miss it again.

Feel it as the audience feels it.
Get the chance to feel the emotion of the audience.
B films are even better on the big screen.
B stands for great at the Castro theater.
Only the big screen can give you that experience.

Find the new in the old.
Find the missing pieces together.
See it again on the big screen.
What you missed is as important as what you see.
It’s harder to miss on the big screen.

It’s harder to miss when you’ve got your friends.
It’s hard to miss the little things on the big screen.
Never miss a thing.
You cried the first time you saw it on the big screen. Cry the next time you see it on the big screen.
Easier to spot then the knife from psyco.

A big theater for big screen love.
Looks big, feels like home.
Big, like the heart of the home.
Big enough for all your friends.
Big enough for the screen, cozy enough for the heart.
This date won’t miss a thing.

Lets find the missing pieces together.
Let the magic find you in the background.
Never miss a thing on the big screen.
Feel it.  Deeper.
Missed the emotion.  Not the show

  1. Okay, so I think you recognized a creative strategy, which is on brief, and I like it! Your creative strategy is - "Missing Pieces."

    This is great!

Hmmm, but I think you need to now think of ways you can execute your creative strategy using different mediums (think of mediums besides Print). Love the idea of missing pieces. Can you make this idea of missing pieces fun? interactive? How would you showcase that a normal movie theatre experience has missing pieces? And the Castro Theatre fills these "missing pieces."

The Headline that I really like is -
    1. The story never changes. Only the way you see it does.

I felt like a lot of your other headlines focused on the fact that you're watching your old favorite movie on the big screen. I like that you touch on one aspect of what makes the Castro Theatre unique - the fact that it plays old movies. However, you don't only want to focus on this aspect about the Castro Theatre. There are other old movie theatres in SF. What makes the Castro Theatre truly unique is its stunning and charming old Hollywood decor, its theatre-stlye/feel, its live performance venue feel, its variety, etc.

Remember the Strategic Idea - The movie is only part of the (theatrical) experience.

For example when you say this -
"Maybe it was a movie you loved but you never got to see it on the big screen. You know all the moments, scenes, lines. You know how powerful the big screen can be and if you could only get the chance to see it, or see it again in all it’s glory, 10 feet tall."

Maybe you can change that idea to - you may have even seen it on the big screen before, but you never got to see it at The Castro Theatre. And then tell them why they have to see it at the Castro Theatre.

    So yeah, good start!

Explore the idea of missing pieces and that one headline a little bit more.
